ABL expands footprint to Batam

Energy and marine consultancy ABL has opened an office at Batam in Indonesia to support the significant offshore and maritime operations that take place on an off the island.

The Batam office will be managed by ABL’s Indonesia’s head office, located in the capital of Jakarta. Day-to-day operations will be coordinated with the ABL Offshore Director in Singapore.

In total, ABL Indonesia has over 25 specialist consultants in maritime and offshore oil and gas disciplines. The new office is located at Graha Pena Batam, 8th Floor Jln Raya Batam Center – Teluk Tering Kec. Batam City.

“We have been present in Indonesia since 1999 when we were originally established as PT Falconer Bryan, followed by Braemar and now ABL. This is the next exciting step in growing our operations in the country to the strategically important fabrication hub of Batam. This new office will allow us to support more clients across maritime and oil and gas industries with local experts in the area able to respond quickly and cost-effectively,” says Deddy Setiyatno, ABL’s country manager in Indonesia.

ABL’s local entity supports Indonesia’s energy and maritime markets, with a wide range of consultancy services, including rig moving consultancy, transportation and installation (T&I) marine warranty survey, naval architecture and marine engineering, hull & machinery and P&I consultancy and survey services.

“Many of the energy infrastructure T&I projects on which we work as marine warranty surveyor (MWS) in Australia, Indonesia, and our other offices in Asia Pacific, have operations in Batam. This new office will help us to support these projects with a continuous local technical presence,” says Simon Healy, Regional Managing Director for ABL Asia Pacific.

ABL is part of Oslo-listed ABL Group ASA, an independent energy and marine consultancy group to the global renewables, maritime and oil and gas sectors.
